▲s you have undoubtably been informed, the question of the
hours and conditions of services under which the Sisters
attached to the Government Civil Hospital labour have been
frequently ventilated in the Legistative Council and subsequently in the Local Press, and it is therefore with
considerable reluctance that I take the liberty of addressing
to you a complaint of the treatm.nt accorded to me by the

The particulars of my complaint follow:-
(I).My agreement of employment, after three years service,expired
today, October 19th. 2. Following the usual custom, I permitted
Dr. Johnsch to book my own passage, but in spite of repeated requests for information, was not informed until this afternoon
(October the 19th), that my passage had been taken by the 8.8.
Chiyé Maru" leaving for San Francisco,U.S.A., tomorrow
morning,October the 20th.
(3).On October the 16th, I applied to Dr. Johnson, through and
on the recommendation of the Matron of the Government Civil Hospital, and of the Superintendent,Dr.W.V.M.Kook, for permission to terminate my duties, in order to attend to personal matters,
on Saturday October 17th.
(4).Not only was thaar request denied, but I was instructed to
report for duty in the Lunacy Tard on Monday, October the 19th.,
which was altogether unusual. This order was subsequently
changed to my usual duties. I point out that in the routine working of the Hospital, Monday, October 19th,,was my off day,
